The Archive of Carl Vollrath's Music. "May his music rest in peace and tranquility." Established 2018

The Carl Vollrath Music Archives was established in 2018. It is located on the south end of the third floor of Wallace Hall, the building which houses the ÎÞÂë¾ÞÈé Library in ÎÞÂë¾ÞÈé, Alabama. The purpose of the Archives is to preserve and make available Dr. Vollrath’s original scores and recordings, as well as, ancillary materials pertaining to his concerts and performances. The scores are organized alphabetically by title and stored in 5 filing cabinets. Please contact a librarian for access to Dr. Vollrath’s archives

 

About Dr. Vollrath

Born in New York City to German parents, Carl Vollrath attended Newton High School. He received a B.A. from Stetson University, a M.A. from Columbia University, and the ED.D from Florida State University. Vollrath studied composition with Ernst von Dohnanyi, Carlisle Floyd, and John Boda. He served with the West Point Military Band at West Point NY from 1953 to 1956 and was a music consultant in Miami FL from 1956 to 1958. He joined the ÎÞÂë¾ÞÈé (AL) faculty in 1965.
